Meet the Artist

Eleonore Brindlmayer’s work is shaped by a lifelong fascination with textiles, pattern, culture, and the visual traditions of the Arab world.

She studied for five years at the Vienna School of Fashion, Schloss Hetzendorf, where she earned a diploma in Textile Design and Printing. Her training gave her a strong foundation in color, composition, fabric, and decorative design, all of which would later become central to her artistic work.

In 1975, Eleonore moved to Jordan to join her husband. Soon after arriving, she became captivated by the traditional dresses worn by Palestinian and Jordanian women. At the time, these richly embroidered garments were still a familiar part of everyday life, and Eleonore was drawn to their extraordinary beauty, craftsmanship, symbolism, and variety.

Inspired by what she saw, she began creating a series of costume paintings that documented Palestinian and Jordanian traditional dress. These works became more than artistic studies. They were a way of capturing and preserving a visual heritage that reflected generations of history, identity, and craftsmanship.

Eleonore’s work was also strongly influenced by Arab folklore, Arabian tales, and the decorative arts of Islam. Their intricate patterns, storytelling traditions, ornamentation, and sense of harmony opened up an artistic world that continued to inspire her throughout her life.

Over the years, these influences became an essential part of her artistic language. Her work brings together her European training in textile design with the colors, patterns, stories, and traditions she discovered in the Arab world.

Today, that same spirit lies at the heart of Eleonore Home. The collection draws on Eleonore’s original artwork and enduring sources of inspiration, bringing her distinctive artistic world into pieces designed for the contemporary home.
